You can choose to align your practice with the Western tropical astrology or Vedic sidereal astrology. I personally orientate myself towards the Vedic as it looks at the live sky like our ancestors would have done and I love that
suggests it is the closest to what (we can guess) the Celts would have used as a system due to the connections between the Sanskrit and Gaelic languages. Considering this is the actual planetary movement of our galaxy, it has real electromagnetic influence on us other than the concept of western astrology, which is a collective conscious choice of belief rather than true physical influence. Still as valid as tarot or numerology is but to harness our real power we always have to fuse mind, body and spirit together and engage with our sensational world. As above so below. As within so without.While archetypes may emanate through us for short periods of time, in what we call numinous experience, no woman can emanate an archetype continuously. Only the archetype itself can withstand such projections such as ever-able, all giving, eternally energetic. We may try to emulate these, but they are ideals, not achievable by humans, and not meant to be. Yet the trap requires that women exhaust themselves trying to achieve these unrealistic levels.

The work with archetypes is not to cling on to a specific identity but to free yourself from your conditioned view of self and find many faces and facets at play in your life - honouring the multidimensional aspect of yourself!
The aim is not to identify a certain number of traits per archetype, label it and box it away but to recognise and respect their changeable nature.
Each archetype has shadow and light, can be acted out of weakness or strength and moves within collective and individual consciousness. My work is to give a bigger picture, explain more intricate and nuanced aspects and support you in realising how they can play out in your thoughts, feelings and actions.
The aim is for YOU to become the curious observer who can start a conversation with their personal archetypes within to stop self-sabotage, alchemise destructive behaviour and co-create your future.

Everyone is welcome, we will work with both male and female characters. As the Avalonian Tradition originates from Goddess Tradition (as does the Arthurian legends by the way! The men are initiated and guided by women in basically every adventure) I will mainly write about the female characters but these are just one expression of an archetype, truly an archetype is not gendered and contains all within itself as we do ourselves!

Sovereignty will guide you back to your own truth, the un-distilled version of yourself that you can choose to inhabit and embody at any given moment and in any area of your life. It is thus that you engage in relationships more confidently, interdependently, securely attached and find your authentic voice in your expression amongst others, the joy of being alive and in reciprocity with your environment.

Mythopoetic Alchemy is the red thread that weaves its way through my work, be it for Sovereign with Laura Durban or my educational work with ceremonial grade cacao for .
We have all to some degree suffered from trauma, fear conditioning and disconnect from our true nature - nature both as the living earth and our own, human and divine soul embodied.
We all feel a strong longing to return home, that sometimes shows in a strong sense of “there must be more”, a pull towards magic, rituals and mystery or the subtle whispers that crave belonging and integration.
This for sure was my journey and combined with a decade of severe medication following a mystery dis-ease I found myself burned out, depressed and fully numb to whatever my body was telling me. To the point that I doubted I would be capable to access any form of intuition or inner knowing.
I relied on external forces, followed expectations and struggled to find what truly lit me up. To be honest, I didn’t know what brought be joy other than being with other people, which created a codependent and people pleasing behavioural pattern. But alone at home? I felt out of place, distracted, lonely, anxious and tried to avoid sitting with my feelings out of fear that I simply wouldn’t find any solution.
And the worst about it all? I considered all of the above to be utterly normal.
I was not aware that I was numb, I just thought that’s what life feels like.
I was not aware that I was anxious, I just thought, that’s what minds are like.
I was not aware that I had a choice, I just thought that relying on systems/institutions/society was the only responsibility I had.
It was all so nice and quiet, so peaceful and comfortable within the prison of victimhood and unawareness. Until suddenly, some force stronger than my captivated mind stirred awake and remembered its longing, its power and its nature. And I slowly - oh so slowly, and quietly - peeled back the layers of distrust in myself. The explosion that followed was an unravelling and years of discovering that magic truly exists. And sovereignty is a goddess within myself. As well as she is in you. In all of us. And only when we realise our sovereign choices and take responsibility for the consequences of our actions (including the choice to outsource responsibility!) will we enter into true relationship with Self, this planet and our community.
I am Laura, teacher, ceremonialist, writer, priestess and mother.
My academic background is studies in literature, fine art and education (I have degrees in all three subjects independently) and my passion has always been connection of mythology, spirituality and real life. If it’s not practical or solution orientated, I don’t teach it. Unless it’s the Great Mystery. Because that is the most real thing we experience in this lifetime. As a freebirthing mom I got to learn this first hand outside of rituals and plant medicine journeys and it only contributes to my sharp mind and inner work-ambitious evolving self. I love to go deep and I also love to find the easeful flow. I love sitting in sacred devotion and I love devoting to my mundane life. I love laughter and I love tears, I know pain and disembodiment and I know bliss and rooted divinity.
Since childhood I have explored mythology and was particularly fond of Celtic fairytales, European folktales, Norse Tradition and Greek deities. Throughout my art and literature studies (2012-2018) I got to weave these themes together academically, professionally and later also personally within my spiritual practice. When I studied the Arthurian legends I had no idea what potency and hidden magic would await me.
I got since initiated in the Avalonian Tradition, trained with incredible scholar and fantastic priestess Jhenah Telyndru and have several certifications from Gabor Maté (Trauma Informed Healer Course), Nordic Celtic Shamanic & Runic Studies with Jeremy R White, Seidr, Nordic Spirituality and runes with Naomi Mirkrida Rowaan. Not to mention my work as Cacao Ceremonialist and Teacher Trainer for Sacred Leaders and Space Holders. Special thanks to my mentor and friend Keith Wilson who taught me about cacao, energetic work and inner child work. Alongside my personal interest for everything personal development, Jungian and narrative psychology, alchemy and magical practices.

Research suggests that the ancient Irish, as well as the broader Celtic cultures, practised a form of predictive astrology that closely paralleled early Hindu astrology, now referred to as Vedic astrology. By examining linguistic concepts, cosmological themes, and calendrical systems, scholars have traced a shared Indo-European heritage underlying both Celtic (including Old Irish) and Sanskrit/Vedic traditions.
Ireland, among European cultures, has preserved particularly strong links with the Hindu branch of Indo-European culture. These connections have been explored by scholars since the 19th century. Adolphe Pictet, in his 1815 work De l'affinité des langues celtiques avec le sanskrit, was one of the earliest to highlight linguistic and cultural parallels. Later, Professor Myles Dillon (1900–1972) expanded this field by identifying shared elements in mythology, social practices, and law. Significant similarities were noted between the ancient Irish legal system, known as the Brehon laws, and Hindu legal traditions.
Dr Calvert Watkins, a prominent scholar, observed that Old Irish retains remarkably archaic features within the Indo-European linguistic tradition. Its grammatical structures, dating to the eighth century CE, provide a more accurate reflection of early Indo-European languages than even Latin. Watkins further noted that the syntax of Old Irish bears striking similarities to Vedic Sanskrit and Old Kingdom Hittite.
Cosmological links have also been recognised. As early as 1895, Dr Heinrich Zimmer identified parallels between the Coligny calendar, the oldest surviving Celtic calendar, and Vedic cosmology. This connection was later reinforced by Dr Olmsted’s detailed analysis of the Coligny calendar.
The suggestion of a shared astrological tradition gained support from a gloss in a 9th-century Irish manuscript found in Würzburg. The word budh was glossed as ‘point of fire’ and ‘planet Mercury’. Similarly, Cormac’s 10th-century Glossary explained that budh referred to ‘Áine’s fire’. Áine, an Irish deity associated with the moon, appeared in both male and female forms. The association of budh with Mercury closely aligns with Vedic cosmology, where the planet Mercury is also called Budh.
The linguistic root budh is widespread in Celtic languages, carrying meanings such as ‘victorious’, ‘gift of teaching’, and ‘enlightened’. In Breton, boud means ‘to be’. The same root appears in the name Boudicca (or Boadicea), the Iceni queen who led a rebellion against Rome. This root is also central in Sanskrit, where Buddha (derived from budh, meaning ‘to know’ or ‘enlightened’) refers to Sakyamuni Gautama, the Enlightened One.
These linguistic, legal, cosmological, and astrological connections suggest a shared Indo-European origin for the ancient Irish and Vedic traditions.
