I live in one of the spiritual centres of this world and what I hear nearly daily from people arriving is that they have lived here in at least one lifetime.
Today I want to challenge the notion of special past lives on special sacred sites.
Have you registered for the free Grail workshop yet? It will be live on Thursday, 14th at 11AM London time, you will also receive the replay of course:
Glastonbury for sure is a place of wonder and ancient magic, it served as a burial place thousands of years ago and that means it was revered highly by neolithic people. We later have speculations of Druids frequenting this place due to its waterways, springs and energy lines. Legend has it that Jesus has been here and the Abbey monks claimed to have found King Arthur and Guinevere’s grave - it all adds to the magnetism.
The famous hill called the Glastonbury Tor upon which only a late medieval church tower remains is thought by some to be the entrance to the Otherworld and a man made pyramid by others. No wonder we get visitors from all over the world and have various faiths tied to this place. My son’s midday nap is regularly interrupted by the Krishnas singing mantra into a microphone on their walk around town.
It is colourful, fun, everyone is allowed to be who they choose to be. Hardly anyone I know goes by their birth name anymore. I get it, it’s liberating and speaks to that inner part of us, the heart of our longing, our remembrance of something bigger, something sacred, something deep.
And as soon as the synchronicities start, you get named Morgana and wear a black cape, the remembrance makes you feel like you belong. And that sense of homecoming makes you believe that you must have lived here before. It is a desire to proclaim the priestess past lives and druidic soul incarnations as a way to validate your experience. But wait:
What if there is a validation that rests in your bones instead?
What if you didn’t have past lives in Glastonbury but you carry the memory of a tradition which your ancestors practiced in your country thousands of years before the Celts even reached the British Isles - IN YOUR BLOOD?
What if you are remembering Avalon not from its modern day representation but from its various original locations?
Avalon is not bound to a place, it is an otherworldly, mythological description of a motif that has been witnessed all over Europe. In its core it is an island inhabited by magical women, wise healers who are skilled, knowledgable and trained in many arts and sciences. This was not a one of a time occurrence, it used to be common. Much more common than a Christian nunnery.
What if you hear this call to connect to your ancestry - beyond great grandparents into pre-Christian times?
What if it is guiding you to awaken the buried knowledge in your country?
And to help stir a movement of empowerment and connection?
Of fostering the magical flame within your neighbours?
Some of course are truly called to move here and grow new roots, I’m one of them. Which is also not surprising, thinking about how the old traditions have been kept alive in the British Isles far more than let’s say France and Germany. But that doesn’t mean they are not still in every rock and tree, in the living and breathing organisms of our forests and lakes.
Myth is tied to landscape. Spirituality is woven into nature.
You can go and study traditions anywhere in the world but without your personal integration of one in your environment, it will stay in the head and will only lead to more dissociation and disconnect. It leaves us dreaming about psychedelic jungles and sunny beaches, when what we call animism is available for us anywhere. And no ritual will bring you closer to it then opening your eyes and seek it out. And this includes your community, your fellow humans.
It doesn’t matter what philosophy you practice, what matters is that you bring the joy and purpose which you seek into your everyday life.
A certain place can activate your remembrance. But it is within you that you carry it forth and it is up to you where to pour it in. Whom does it serve?
More about sacred isles and priestess sisterhoods in my next email.
Are you called to sacred springs and want to hear the voices of the wells sing again?
Are you on your personal Grail Quest of remembering your own power?
Are you ready to anchor Avalon into your world?
The doors to THE WORLDS OF AVALON are open, my own year study into the myths and mysteries of European and Celtic ancestry and the true core of our Western indigenous spiritual roots.
Love this Laura! Such an important perspective 🕯️
I’m so sorry I missed it although it would’ve been at 4 AM my time I did sign up in hopes I might get the recording? I’ve been to Glastonbury twice in the last two years I live in the USA the first time I was there. Everything opened up for me so much so that I came back I’m just finished paying off my bill. I would love to live in Glastonbury! Blessings 🧚♀️❤️
