Thank you for this magical deep dive Laura, it is all SO fascinating. I have learnt so much about the true essence of the Sirens, thank you. I found myself drawn to the story of Persephone which I explored when writing about spring flowers last year, and also Cerridwen — my paternal Welsh grandmother was called Awen and I look forward to exploring more around the meanings around her name. Thank you for the deep inspiration as always xx
What a powerful name your grandmother held! Awen is the divine inspiration, the source of prophecy, poetry, knowledge and so much more which words can’t describe. You will find opening a treasure chest researching this word full of wonder and curiosity and ancestral power! Here in Glastonbury it is common to sound Awen instead of Om when gathering or as a closing statement in sharing circles!
I had an inkling it was powerful but didn’t know the full extent. Thank you for this wonderful insight, a treasure chest indeed, I can’t wait to delve in and explore this ancestral gift! xx
Wanted to pop over and thank you for this piece. I completely adored it. I’d wanted to join in with Siren Songs but a busy week was squeezing the room where I needed inspiration to float in. I hadn’t even finished reading when suddenly it was so clear what I was going to write! ✨
I love these synchronistic surges of inspiration! And also there is no rush! We have the whole week, and all weeks to come to share our songs! But do tag me or mention me so I know about your post and can compile it with the others in our grand round up
Thank you for this work, so rich with the stories we have forgotten. It has brought me into my selkie-self who hears your song. And Morgan brought me to her Irish namesake The Mór Rígan (Great Queen), the shape-shifting poet (file) of Cruachan Aí who appears at beginnings and endings, reminding us that dark and light exist in balance 🌑☀️
Thank you for your deep devotion to the mythic strands of our ancient memory. I too am a siren. 🌊Today, as every day, I sing for the waters. Today I ask: is it time to sing for the humans, to soothe and lift the waters within each of us? Here’s my offering:
