Why setting intentions for the year to come is more beneficial now than on NYE. And how we can honour natures transition through our dreamtime. And an upcoming online Samhain Ceremony.
Thank you Laurence, for taking the time to read. There are a few more thoughts and nuances that I wish to write about concerning this topic, and it would be helpful - if you are up for it - to know why November represents the year´s beginning for YOU. What is your internal clock saying or maybe its the senses? a smell in the air or the retreat into the home?
Good questions. I wonder if it's that there is still some lingering energy from the summer and early autumn. Maybe it's the fact thats in between the frantic growth of the summer and the darkest days of winter. I still feel energised to look forward. 3 years ago I also made quite a big life move at this time of year. If I think of anything more I shall reply a little more!
Thank you! I very much relate to the life moves! I have moved three years in a row now around this time which truly is an external ending and new beginning.
Oh thank you so much Lauren! How do you perceive this time? I really feel like it’s an evening of preparation for the nights sleep of winter. And this makes me look closely at my days now- am I filling them up too much or do I start to make space for rest and regulation...
I really like that perspective... and yes... it feels like the ‘tidying up’, getting cosy and winding down before a deep rest... but then December always feels like someone turning the lights on and blaring out music just as you are about to fall asleep because of Christmas... and then because of that January is like the hangover!!!!! 🤪
Hahaha very well described! Who started this madness 😂 I want cosy bedtime stories and guitar strumming around a fire place - although mead would probably flow and result in a similar hangover hahaha maybe that’s what January is for after all 🤷♀️
Appreciated this ! Your words made me think of what I’ve read from John o donohue on the darkness as the first light. Irish poet who writes about Celtic wisdom, he’s phenomenal (if you’re not already familiar). Will continue to reflect on this
I love John O Donohue, such touching words. The quote you have on your profile is pure magic.
Thank you for taking the time to read and reflect further. I find it to be very crucial currently to quiet the external noise and truly, genuienly, honestly ask myself: do I believe this? Do I WANT to believe it? Or do i like the idea but can FEEL it? If not, why? And what else is present in me that wants to be acknowledged instead?
Enjoyed this read-thank you. A couple of times in my life I've found the beginning of November represents the year's beginning for me.

I've just moved this weekend too! Why do you think you moved during this time of year, coincidental or something more?
This is so so beautiful and insightful, thank you so much! X
